Formed
in 2001, California's DANA SHELLMIRE is both an individual songwriter/multi-instrumentalist
and a hyper-charged Power Pop/Rock 3-piece featuring MICK COLLINS
(drums, percussion, samples) and TYLER WHITNEY (guitars, vocals, keyboards).
More than just another young Indie rock band with college beginnings,
this dynamic group of songwriters combines musical versatility, humor,
high-energy stage chemistry, global perspective, raw talent, and no-frills
sincerity to achieve an exciting sound that has made them a highly-coveted
favorite of fans, concert promoters, and media program directors across
three continents.
Fans
of such breakthrough alternative rock acts as MAROON5, NO DOUBT,
THE GO! TEAM, PUFFY AMIYUMI, 311, and THE MARS VOLTA will appreciate
DANA SHELLMIRE'S music for its seamless combination of genre influences
into one fun, stylish, edgy and accessible signature Rock brand.
From straight-ahead hard rock to dancehall, surf punk, Japanese
pop, deep southern soul, classical, hip-hop and electronic--there's
a little something for everyone wrapped in a singular mind-blowing
package.
One
of the hardest working bands in the U.S. "New Rock" scene,
in just 4 years DANA SHELLMIRE has performed close to 450 shows
coast to coast in the USA and overseas (Japan, Europe), released
six albums (some of which are now SOLD OUT), and received rave live
reviews in countless music publications including Rockrgrl, NOW,
and Performer Magazine. Quite simply, DANA SHELLMIRE is a one-of-a-kind
cultural phenomenon that is both immediate and full of continuous
surprises.
The
band's latest album "Aural Ammunition" redefines the notion
of "media circus" by treating listeners to 12 potent and
persuasive songs as a succession of distinctly appealing "acts."
Inspired by artists as sonically diverse as TEH CLASH, XTC, THE
WHO, 311, TEH ROOTS, BJORK and JIMI HENDRIX, the album makes unholy
magic out of raw, soaring vocal harmonies (think Pink Floyd's "Great
Gig in the Sky"), big, driving beats, punchy bass lines, cerebral-edged
piano melodies, melodic punk-pop fuzz guitar riffs, obscure movie
samples, smart, off-kilter lyrics, and dynamite production prowess
of Peter LoIacono (Edge of States) and award-winning engineer Jeff
Lipton--best known for his work with David Bowie, Wilco, The Dropkick
Murphys and Elvis Costello.
Look
for DANA SHELLMIRE (either solo or as a band) at a club, bar, festival,
university, theater, or stadium across North America, Europe and
Japan (sometimes opening for larger acts!)
