'Imagine
the minds of Pink Floyd, The Wipers, The Smashing Pumpkins, and
Sonic Youth molded into a strange hybrid brew.' That's how
Blue Remedy likes to describe their sound, and hopefully
their music lives up to their expectations. Almost named Sonic Tangerine
by founders Todd Lilje and Danielle Sottosanti, Blue Remedy is the
band's hope for merging the music of the distant and recent past
into a new sound, hopefully a new rock. Their musical tastes are
certainly diverse enough. Danielle Sottosanti (vocals & guitar)
names bands ranging from The Wipers to The Smashing Pumpkins in
her listening list. Related to Felix Cavaliere of The Young Rascals,
she also hopes to merge some of the '60s utopianist feel with the
nihilism of the '90s. Brian Wieber (bass) is classic rock all the
way. He admires bands like Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones, and
he can certainly rock as hard as the masters. Drummer Aaron Wootton
is the punk element of the band, and also has a resume worthy of
any great rock drummer. He's been in noteworthy British punk bands
like Yellow Skin and Metamorphosis, and has the drumming skills
to prove it. After Todd left the band, Blue Remedy remained strong
and has become an emerging figure in the Tucson scene.
